Free equipment loan programs

Equipment loan programs provide short-term access to equipment at no cost. Please note that many programs can only supply equipment on a short-term basis and that some products may have a waitlist. Search by region:

Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands
Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland (east to Hope; north to Pemberton)
Okanagan and Central British Columbia (includes Lillooet, Merritt, Princeton)
Eastern British Columbia (Grand Forks and further east)

Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands


Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland

  • BCITS Technology for Independent Living Program (TIL)
    The TIL program provides a variety of electronic devices to assist users with accessing their home environment, through smart devices, switches or environmental control systems.
  • Bowen Island Medical Equipment Lending Program
    Only available to residents of Bowen Island (part of Metro Vancouver Regional District).
  • MS Society of Canada (Burnaby)
    Only for people with MS; requires that an occupational therapist, doctor or other healthcare professional fill out a form first; based on financial need.
  • Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program
    Requires a referral from a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or occupational therapist. Available in the following locations: White Rock, Richmond, Langley, Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Port Coquitlam, North Vancouver, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Squamish and Powell River.
  • Vancouver Coastal Health
    GF Strong Rehab Centre (Greater Vancouver) provides equipment evaluation services and equipment loans.

Okanagan and Central British Columbia


Eastern British Columbia

  • BCITS Technology for Independent Living Program (TIL)
    The TIL program provides a variety of electronic devices to assist users with accessing their home environment, through smart devices, switches or environmental control systems.
  • MS Society of Canada
    Provides equipment loans to the entire province, but only for people with MS; closest office is in Kamloops or Kelowna; requires a referral from an occupational therapist, doctor or other healthcare professional; based on financial need.
  • Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program
    Requires a referral from a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or occupational therapist. Available in the following locations: Grand Forks, Cranbrook, Fernie, Creston, Elkford, Kaslo, Nelson, Invermere, Castlegar, Trail, Edgewood and Revelstoke.

Northern British Columbia

  • BCITS Technology for Independent Living Program (TIL)
    The TIL program provides a variety of electronic devices to assist users with accessing their home environment, through smart devices, switches or environmental control systems.
  • MS Society of Canada
    In Prince George; only for people with MS; requires a referral from an occupational therapist, doctor or other healthcare professionals; based on financial need.
  • Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program
    Requires a referral from a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or occupational therapist. Available in the following locations: Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Clearwater, Prince George, Mackenzie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Smithers, Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert and Fort Nelson. (Whitehorse is also available by referral for very northern residents if it is closer than other offices or provides different equipment.)
