What device can help me squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube?

Question

I live at home alone and am becoming quite frail in my old age. Lately, I have been having difficulty squeezing toothpaste from the tube – do you happen to know if there is some kind of device that will help me with this?

Our answer

Squeezing toothpaste out of the tube can be a very frustrating process (especially if there is very little toothpaste left!).

Thankfully, there are a number of tools available on the market that can make getting toothpaste onto the brush a little bit easier. Below are direct links to some examples of such products:

  • Rolling Tube Toothpaste Squeezer by Gobest (at Amazon Canada) has a right rotator handle that allows you to squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube more easily. This device, which costs about $10 (CDN), can also be used on tubes for cream, face wash, etc.
  • The Tube Squeezer, by BIOS MedicalTube Squeezer by BIOS Medical (at BIOS Medical) has suction cups that attach the device to the counter and a thumb rotator screw that puts pressure on the tube, making it easier to squeeze out the toothpaste. This device costs about $13 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.
  • Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser and Squeezer by iLife Tech (at Amazon Canada) is a hands-free, one-touch toothpaste dispenser that uses vacuum technology to pump out the toothpaste for you. This product, which also comes with a toothbrush holder capable of holding up to five toothbrushes, costs about $20 (CDN), plus a shipping fee.
